A cage of Eagles

This is one of four Follett's books I have read abouit German POWs and this book along with the other three were great reading. Since then I have read most of Follett's other books which very entertaining. I reccomend this book as well as the other three. Hard to put down.

James Follett Has Never Disappointed Me

I only discovered this author in the last year, and have voraciously read several of his books, with more waiting for my attention on the iPad. "Cage of Eagles" is the first volume of a trilogy dealing with WWII German officers held in a POW camp in England. Despite the overall serious aspect of the situation, there is a good amount of humor, especially as the strict, no-nonsense senior POW officer jousts with the easy-going Canadian camp commander, as well as a British Naval Intelligence Officer (none other than Ian Fleming, in his pre-Bond days). I've read volume 2, "Forest of Eagles," and the final book, "Return of Eagles," which deals with the POWs' post-war experiences. Both matched the quality of "Cage." Many incidents in the books are based on actual events uncovered during Follett's extensive research for another book, stories he describes as "too good not to put in a novel." I highly recommend this series as well as all other James Follett books I've read. And Ken Follett, whom I previously confused with James, is equally good.

Funny, quick read.

I cannot believe the English were so cavalier in their treatment of their sworn enemy. It reminds me of the TV program "Hogan's Heroes" in reverse.
